Swimming is a great form of all-round exercise, especially if you want to be more active and stay healthy.
Whatever your age or ability, Swimming in Ards is for everyone. And doing it with your family and friends is even more fun!
Lessons for all ages and abilities, from the very young, to those who might think they are too old to learn - don't worry, you're not!
Our Shallow Swim sessions in the Minor Pool at Ards Blair Mayne are for our youngest swimmers to gain confidence in water and practice their swimming. The water is 80cm deep providing a great opportunity to enjoy the water in a shallow and quieter pool. Swim toys are not permitted as children are encouraged to swim rather than play.
The sessions run on Saturday and Sunday 3.15pm to 4.15pm.
Due to limited availability, it is encouraged to pre-book your session to avoid disappointment.
For Children 4 and Under, ID will be required at reception when you check in on the day of your session.
Booking available online for non-members. Centre members must book at reception to receive their applicable membership discount. Current Waves members may use their Free Swims against these sessions on proof of Waves membership.
An adult cannot be responsible for supervising more than two children of 7 years old or under, the ratio of this supervision must not be greater than a 1:2 basis.

Main Pool
The 25-metre Main Pool is for public, adult only and family public swimming, as well as lessons, classes and club bookings.
The pool has six lanes. Two lanes have a permanent depth of 2 metres. A wall separates the static lanes from the four lanes that have a moveable floor, adjustable to a maximum depth of 2 metres to 1 metre to accommodate the various activities that take place. Swimmers will be asked to leave the pool for the few minutes it takes to adjust the floor height, an alarm will sound when the floor is being moved.
A 160-seat Spectator Gallery overlooks the Main Pool. Access into the pool is via steps, ladders and a modern deck level platform for disabled access.
