Activities and courses run by our Football Development team.

What is Football Development?

About Football Development

Our Football Development team delivers programmes, tournaments and courses across the borough which aim to create a structured approach to the development of football.

We work in partnership with the Irish Football Association in relation to grassroots football in Northern Ireland.

Summer Football Skills - July and August 2022

Fun and enjoyment for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 years, regardless of ability.

Courses run from 10am to 1pm as follows:

4 to 8 July  Londonderry Park, Newtownards
18 to 22 July  Comber Leisure Centre
25 to 29 July  Ballywalter Football Pavilion
1 to 5 August  St. Mary's Primary School, Kircubbin
8 to 12 August  Portaferry Football Pavilion
15 to 19 August  Londonderry Park, Newtownards
22 to 26 August  Crommelin Park, Donaghadee

Cost: £45, 2nd child or venue £30

Weeks are now open for booking.

To bookdownload the form to complete and sign and return it to Londonderry Park by post or in person or scan and email it to Sports Development. Payment can be taken over the phone or in person at Londonderry Park.

Previous Events

Finished events and programmes include;

  • Walking football - Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex
  • Community Cup - Londonderry Park
  • Borough Cup
  • Primary school league had 18 schools taking part. The League was won by Londonderry Primary School. This was the 1st time they have won it since 1963.
  • 9 aside leagues for Primary schools (Final at end of May)
  • Peninsula League 
  • January Football Development Centre  This programme was fully booked with 80 kids participating
  • Easter Camp
  • Girls programme - Girls finals day 29th May
