Bowls

Keep calm and go bowling.

Bowls in Ards and North Down

Bowling will reopen from Thursday 8 April for casual use at: Cloughey, Donaghadee, Londonderry Park Newtownards, Seapark Holywood and Ward Park Bangor for up to 10 people (including children of all ages) from a maximum of two households.

From 12 April - up to 15 people (including coaches) taking part in structured outdoor sports training, through an affiliated club can play.

Players should adhere to the following safety information:

  • A maximum of 4 people per rink (maximum of 2 households for casual use)
  • Use your own bowls, slip mats and jacks throughout the session
  • Only one to one coaching is permitted remaining two metres apart
  • 3 rinks available per session
  • To maintain a safe space, use alternate rinks (1/3/5 or 2/4/6)
  • No shaking hands or physical contact with other players
  • Allow others to leave the green before you go on
  • Maintain social distancing (2 metre rule) at all times
  • Follow public health guidelines for hygiene
  • Do not play if you are self-isolating
  • Players can book a session at the reception point at the facility

Access to toilet facilities may be available within the pavilion and limited to only one person at a time.  Where separate public toilet facilities are available onsite, the pavilion will remain closed.

Bowling activity must adhere to the guidelines set out by the Irish Bowling Federation.

Bowling in our leisure centres

Short Mat Bowls is available at Comber Leisure Centre on Wednesday 10am to 12 noon, just turn up and play.

Council Bowling Facilities

Bowling greens can be found at Cloughey, Donaghadee, Londonderry Park NewtownardsSeapark Holywood and Ward Park Bangor.

Greens are open 1 April to 30 September.
